Open post-doc position
We are seeking a post-doc to work in a multi-disciplinary research project that aims to develop a new generation of “bidirectional Brain Machine Interfaces (BIMs)” (i.e. BMIs which decode information from the recorded neural activity and provide information to the brain by stimulation). The project involves five European research groups. Our part will be responsible for developing the mixed analog/digital neuromorphic VLSI circuits and systems that implement neural computational strategies to process the neural signals measured from the nervous system.
The project will be funded by the EU FP7 FET program, for 3 years, starting from January 2012.
The ideal candidate is expected to have experience either in one or more of the following areas: mixed analog/digital VLSI design, advanced FPGA and PCB development, asynchronous logic, computational neuroscience (e.g. spiking neural network models).
The project will be conducted at the Institute of Neuroinformatics, University of Zurich (UZH) and ETH Zurich. The institute located on the Irchel campus in Zurich, Switzerland, and provides a stimulating research environment that includes a group of leading experts on a wide range of disciplines, ranging from fundamental neuroscience to analog VLSI design.
